These events gives people the chance to complete along with having fun, and raising money for something very important in the process. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
Perhaps one of the best known running and walking events for charity, the Susan G. Komen Race for Cure is a 5K run and walk that raises funds and awareness for breast cancer. New Orleans hosts this even every year in October. Hoda Kotb will be a part of this, this year as the Honorary Survivor Chair. This race is fun for everyone of all ages and fitness levels, including walkers and runners. Even small children can participate.
UNCF New Orleans Walk For Education
The UNCF New Orleans Walk for Education is held on October 8, 2016, and is a very important event that boost awareness about education along with providing scholarships to students from low-income households. This gives someone the chance to go to college who otherwise might not have been able to.
Houma Heart and Soles Half-Marathon and 5K
The Houma Heart and Soles Half-Marathon and 5K is held November 19, 2016 and raises money to provide cardiovascular education and screenings in the community. It is presented by Cardiovascular Institute of the South and Terrebonne General Medical Center, and includes a half-marathon a 5k walk or run.
