There are few things more exhilarating than driving your Infiniti. Next time you’re looking to go for a drive, check out some of these beautiful scenic routes that run through our great state.
Cane River Heritage Trail
The Cane River Heritage Trail is a good way to go on a great drive and a cultural journey at the same time. Discover the landscape of colonial forts, plantations, churches, cemeteries, and homes that line the 53-mile stretch of road. This road begins at the “Gateway to Cajun Country” and passes through a rich agricultural landscape that is home to a melting pot of friendly, Southern people. As you drive down the trail you can feel the rich Civil War history in the air.
Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway
The Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway is a much more rugged terrain than what you would expect from Louisiana. This 17-mile drive runs through the Kisatchie National Forest. This drive offers expansive views of hills, buttes, and rocky cliffs. You can stop at the Longleaf Visitor Center for detailed information about the trail. While you’re on the trail, consider a detour from the byway to enjoy the Kisatchie Bayou Recreation Area, which features swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking.
Louisiana Bayou Byway
The Louisiana Bayou Byway runs from Lafayette to just outside of New Orleans. This byway offers rich history and unique, beautiful views. A melting pot of Native American, African, Spanish, Caribbean, and French people has created a vibrant culture known for its amazing food and amazing music. Before heading out on this drive, stop at the Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park. Step back in time and learn about Acadian, Creole, and Cajun culture at this great museum. About 20 minutes east of Lafayette the byway cruises through the Cypress Island Preserve. This preserve is home to thousands of birds that you can observe while driving through.
